IkanAdapt project launched with WorldFish

With funding from WorldFish, CJC launched a programme to strengthen youth involvement in climate-resilient fisheries and coastal livelihoods.

The launch of the IkanAdapt project took place at the CJC hall with the three target groups from Suku Tashilin, Suai Loro and Maudemo. Speakers included Mr Nathan of James Cook University, the WorldFish programme coordinator and the Director of NGO Support for Covalima Municipality. The Director-General of MJDAC and the post administrators of Suai, Tilomar and Zumalai also attended.

The programme aims to raise awareness among youth groups living closest to the coast of how they can conserve, care for and protect coastal plants such as mangroves (ai parapa) in the face of climate change.
